I trained in finance and business management and that is the lens I bring to data. A report is not a product in itself; it is the last step of a model whose definitions hold up.
In practice that means understanding the company's business model and where the numbers come from before building anything. It is also why I would rather sit with the controller and the board than with the IT department alone.

A financial data platform at an international dredging and offshore business. Reporting across finance and human resources for an organisation working in several countries and currencies, so the finance function could steer centrally on numbers that mean the same thing everywhere.
An operational steering model for a fibre rollout in Wallonia. The rollout of a network made visible in numbers the operation used daily: where the build stands, where it is stuck and what that means for the planning.
One set of numbers for a retail group and its logistics centre. Operational and financial reporting brought together, with the database management around it, so sales and logistics stopped giving different answers from different sources.
Visibility on sales performance at two automotive businesses. Sales reporting where results can be compared across several dimensions, from brand and site through to salesperson, instead of one total nobody could act on.
Better management information for a family business. Financial reporting that gave the board the grounding to make strategic choices on numbers rather than on instinct.
What came out of that work is on the cases page. When we work together, Johny is usually there too.
Some of the businesses we worked for. What came out of the work at several of them is on the cases page, with the company named.

You tell us which systems are running and where the numbers diverge. By the end you know whether this is for you and what the next step would be.
